Decolonization and Restorative Justice: A Proposed Theoretical Framework.

The concept of decolonization has been used in numerous disciplines and settings, including education, psychology, governance, justice, transitional restorative justice as well research methods. Fanon (1963) saw a process both unlearning undoing the harms colonization. For Monchalin (2016), is goal to bring about fundamental shift colonial structures, ideologies discourses. According Alfred (2009, p. 185), requires “nation-to-nation partnership” for “justice peace”. In context Restorative Justice (RJ), entail a) addressing historical colonization; b) recognizing grievances indigenous marginalized communities system genuine; c) acknowledging that state- or INGO-funded RJ practices may do more harm than good. This paper begins with brief overview discourses from micro macro perspectives then locate arguing against “copying pasting” Eurocentric models practices.
